Frequently asked questions

Which pets does Cosset know?

Dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits and reptiles, each with its own room, care routine and health records: water tests for an aquarium, temperatures and sheds for a reptile. When you add a pet, Cosset suggests a starting routine for its kind, which you can change.

How do I log care?

Tap the thing in the room: the bowl, the leash, the water fountain. You can also tap a ring under Today, use Done in a reminder's notification, or open the quick log (the bar above the tabs on iPhone, ⌘L on iPad) to log anything due for any pet. Tap again to undo.

Reminders are not arriving.

Check, in order: the task is switched on in the pet's Routine; iOS Settings › Notifications › Cosset allows them; and no Focus is silencing them. Reminders are scheduled on your device, so open Cosset once after changing a routine or the time zone. Care for a pet in memory is paused and sends no reminders.

Will my pets be on my other devices?

Yes, when every device is signed in to the same iCloud account and has iCloud turned on for Cosset. Changes usually arrive within a minute while the app is open.

How do I share my pets with my household?

Open Settings › Household and invite people from the share sheet. They need Cosset and an iCloud account; everyone sees the same pets, logs, health records and memories, and anyone can log care. Household sharing is part of Cosset Plus, and one member's Cosset Plus covers the pets they share.

How does pet sitter mode work?

In Settings › Household, tap Add a pet sitter, add their name and the dates you're away, then invite them. Once they've joined, pick them in the same screen. A sitter can log care and add photos and memories, and sees the routine, diet and vet details, but not your spending, and can't remove pets or change profiles. Your Home shows what they've logged. When the visit is over Cosset reminds you, and End access takes them out of the share; their logs and photos stay.

What is free, and what does Cosset Plus add?

Free, always: two pets with their rooms, care, reminders and routines; the health log, diet, allergies and foods to avoid; emergency vets; memories, photos and stickers; ID, tracking and the lost poster; and everything for a pet in memory, including the memorial book. Cosset Plus adds unlimited pets, the book and the Moving book, room decorating, the vet summary and pet-sitter sheet, household sharing and pet sitter mode, widgets, spending and tracked walks. It's one purchase, not a subscription, and the price is shown in the app.

I bought Cosset Plus on another device, or reinstalled. How do I get it back?

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. It uses the Apple Account you're signed in with, and Cosset Plus is shared with your Family Sharing group.

How do I print the book?

In Memories, tap Turn into a book, pick the chapters and a style, then a page size (8 × 8 in or A4) and Export PDF. The PDF is print-ready: take it to any print shop, or upload it to a photo-book service that accepts PDFs.

How do I use the stickers in Messages?

Make them in Cosset first: Memories › Stickers, then choose a photo with your pet in it. In Messages, open the apps drawer and choose Cosset; your stickers are there to tap or drag onto a message.

Does a walk keep recording with the screen locked?

Yes. Once you start a walk, Cosset records the route until you end it, even with the screen locked or the app closed, and the blue location indicator shows while it does. Allow location While Using the App when Cosset asks. Without location, the walk's time is still recorded.

My pet is missing. What do I do?

Open ID & tracking and tap the pet is lost. Cosset makes a poster to share and print, with a checklist of what to do first, and Open Find My takes you to their AirTag. This is free.

What happens when I mark a pet as in memory?

Their room becomes a quiet one with their portrait and a candle, their care and reminders stop, and their memories stay. A pet in memory doesn't count toward the two free pets, and their memorial book is free.

Is there a Mac or Apple Watch version?

Cosset is an app for iPhone and iPad, with widgets for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. There is no Mac or Apple Watch version.

How do I delete my data?

Remove a pet, a memory or a record in the app, and it's deleted on your devices and in your iCloud. Deleting the app removes what it keeps on that device; to remove the iCloud copy too, delete Cosset's data in your device's iCloud settings. There is nothing on our side to delete. See the Privacy Policy.

Anything else

If something is wrong, tell us which device and iOS version you're on, which kind of pet it was about, what you expected and what you saw. A screenshot helps.

Cosset's health features are a record, not veterinary advice. If you're worried about your pet, call your vet.
