Privacy Policy

The short version

This site sets no cookies, shows no advertising and has no accounts. Cloudflare, which serves it, counts visits without cookies and keeps request logs for a few days. If you pay for one of the games or apps on the web, Paddle takes the payment and is responsible for your payment details; this site keeps only a record of refunds by transaction number. Each app and website has its own privacy policy for what it does, linked from its page.

Who is responsible

Pablo Miranda, a one-person studio in Quito, Ecuador, is responsible for this site and for the personal data described here. Write to support@pablin.me about anything on this page.

This page covers www.pablin.me. Each product has its own policy: the apps' are linked from their pages here (for example Hindcast or Cosset), and the websites holapdf.app, sharpmerge.com, convergerlab.com, raykiln.dev and hindcastweather.com each publish theirs.

Visiting the site

  • Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. To send you a page, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the usual details of the request (the page, your browser, the time). Its request logs, which I can read to find errors and abuse, are kept for a few days and then deleted. Cloudflare may also run a short script to tell people from automated traffic. The basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site working and safe.
  • Visit counts. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, the referring site and the country and type of device, in aggregate. It uses no cookies and nothing stored on your device, and does not follow you to other sites. The basis is my legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.
  • Nothing else. The fonts, images and videos come from this site itself, there is no advertising or third-party tracking, and nothing is stored in your browser.

Writing to me

If you email support@pablin.me, I receive your address and whatever you write, through Apple's iCloud Mail. I use it only to answer you and keep the conversation for as long as it may be useful for support, normally no more than two years. The basis is your request, or my legitimate interest in answering it.

Payments through Paddle

The games and apps sold on the web are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, the reseller and merchant of record, which takes the payment, charges any tax and sends the receipt. Paddle collects your name, email address, country and payment details itself and handles them as an independent controller under its own privacy policy; I never see your card. The page /pay/, where a link in one of Paddle's emails opens a payment, loads Paddle's checkout for that reason.

Paddle tells this site when a purchase is refunded or charged back. The site keeps, for each such event, the Paddle transaction number, the kind of event and its date, so that the product it was for can withdraw the licence. This record names no person; it is kept as long as the licence it concerns, because a refund has to stay effective. The basis is the contract of sale.

Backups

Every night the site copies the databases of the products that keep accounts or licences (Hola PDF, Sharp, ConvergerLab and Ray Kiln on the web) and the refund record above into private Cloudflare storage. Each copy is deleted after 90 days, so something you delete from one of those products may remain in a backup for up to 90 days. Backups are only read to restore a database after a failure.

Where data is processed

Cloudflare, Apple and Paddle process data in the United States and elsewhere. For people in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Cloudflare and Apple transfer data under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses; Paddle describes its own safeguards in its policy.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to its use based on my legitimate interests, or ask to receive it in a portable form. Write to support@pablin.me; I answer within 15 days. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or work, or Ecuador's Superintendencia de Protección de Datos Personales.

I do not sell or share personal information, for advertising or otherwise, and use none for profiling, so there is nothing to opt out of; a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is honoured all the same. If you live in a US state with a privacy law, you have the rights described above to know, correct and delete, and you will not be treated differently for using them.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information knowingly from them. If you think a child has written to me, tell me and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
