Privacy
Rake Plus does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data — with us or anyone else. Your photos are worked on on your device and never uploaded. There are no accounts and no servers of ours. The only thing in the app that uses a network is Apple's App Store, for the optional Rake Plus Pro purchase. A photo or clip leaves Rake Plus only when you save it or send it yourself.
Rake Plus, formerly Rake, changes a photo after it was taken. It reads how far away each part of the picture is — the depth a Portrait-mode photo carries, or an estimate made on your device for any other photo — and uses it to take out haze, place lights that cast shadows, add fog and shafts of light, and move the focus. Rake Plus Pro, an optional purchase, adds window light, rain and snow, colour grading by distance, and short camera-move clips. It runs on iPhone and iPad.
None. Rake Plus has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifiers and no crash-reporting service. It never opens a connection to send us — or anyone else — anything at all. We do not know how many people use it, which photos they open, or whether they use it, because none of that is ever sent anywhere.
Photos come into Rake Plus through the system photo picker. The picker is part of iOS, not of Rake Plus: you choose a photo there, and Rake Plus receives that one photo and nothing else. It never asks to read your photo library, and it cannot see the photos you did not pick.
The photo you pick is decoded and worked on in the app's memory, on your device's processor and graphics chip, together with what your iPhone saved with it: the depth, and for Portrait photos of people, the outline of the person. Rake Plus does not upload it, does not keep a copy of it in its own storage, and lets it go when you pick another photo or the app is closed.
When a photo carries no depth of its own, Rake Plus estimates it with a depth model that is built into the app — Depth Anything V2 Small, in Apple's Core ML conversion. It runs on your device like the rest of the app. The photo is not sent to the model's authors, to Apple, or to anyone.
To make a Motion clip from a photo without a Portrait outline, Rake Plus finds your subject's outline with the same subject lifting iOS uses in Photos. That also runs on your device, and nothing is sent anywhere.
A photo or clip leaves Rake Plus only when you choose to save or send it through the system share sheet.
A Motion clip is written to the app's temporary folder while you preview and share it, so the share sheet has a file to hand on. Each new clip replaces the last one of the same move and size, and iOS clears the temporary folder by itself.
Rake Plus keeps three settings of its own in the app's preferences: whether you have seen the guide, whether the controls are folded away, and which sections of the controls are closed. The adjustments you make to a photo are not kept; they go when the photo does. The settings contain nothing about you or your photos. They belong to Rake Plus alone — there is no app group and no shared container, so no other app can read them — and they are never sent anywhere.
Rake Plus is free, with one optional in-app purchase, Rake Plus Pro, that unlocks saving and sharing with its tools. That purchase goes through Apple's App Store. Apple tells the app whether it has been bought and nothing else: we receive no payment details, no Apple Account name, and no record of who bought it. StoreKit, Apple's purchase system, is the only part of the app that talks to a network, and it talks to Apple.
There are none. Rake Plus has no subscriptions, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. The depth model described above is a file inside the app, not a service: it has no code that reaches the internet.
Deleting the app removes its settings and its temporary folder from your device. Whether you bought Rake Plus Pro is kept by Apple with your Apple Account, not by us, so reinstalling and choosing Restore Purchase brings it back. There is nothing else to delete and no remote copy for us to remove, because none was ever made. Photos you saved with Save Image are yours, in your library, and stay there until you delete them.
Rake Plus does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. Since the app collects nothing at all, this applies equally to everyone who uses it.
If this policy ever changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Given how the app is built, with no network of its own and nothing kept about you, we do not expect that to happen often.
